With the season over half complete every game is starting to matter more and more and with three games on the schedule this past weekend made for a perfect time to pick up some necessary points and positions in the standings.

The weekend started on the road in Fredericton Junction where the Panthers were taking on the Rivercats. The first two periods saw fast paced, hard-hitting rivalry like hockey. It was not until the third period when the floodgates opened and an excellent game into a goon fest. Cheap shots and fights were just the beginning. A third period to forget ended up being a 7-1 lose for the Panthers. The Panthers lone goal was scored by rookie defenseman Tyler Harding.

The Panthers and Rivercats were set to faceoff again the next night in Hartland but due to the freezing rain the game was postponed and is set to be rescheduled for a later date.

The Panthers were back on the road Sunday to visit the Grand Lake Moose. After losing three in a row the Panthers needed a win to get back on track and to continue to climb the NBJHL standings. The Panthers came out with the strong effort needed and got out to a 4-0 lead after the first period. The same effort continued for the remaining two periods and was able to put 11 goals on the board. Solid efforts from Josh Arsenault and Brody Seveck who combined for 9 points, Jake Lamoreau scoring his first and second goals of the season. Patrick Godreau with his second shutout of the season.

With a win and a lose it puts the Panthers in 5th position in the NBJHL standings just two points behind the Shediac Predators. The Panthers have two games on the schedule for this weekend starting Friday night on the road against the third place Fredericton Cap’s. Then back home Saturday night to play host to the second place Kent Koyotes. Game time is 7:00PM Saturday night at the Hartland Arena.
