The holiday season is now behind us and with that the second half of the NBJHL season is already underway. Going into the break the Panthers were able to put a string of 4 wins in a row putting them into the top four in the standings. The New Year did not start as well as the old finished.

The weekend’s action started with a road game in St. Stephen to take on the Fundy Cobras. The Cobras and Panthers have battled few times this season and is becoming nothing short of an instant rivalry. A game that saw hitting, fighting lots of scoring and even a little blood. In the end the Cobras took the victory 7-3.

Saturday night’s game was an even bigger challenge as the Panthers took on the first place Moncton Vito’s. The Vito’s have gone undefeated with a 19-0-0 record and have held first place in the standings all season long. The Vito’s made a strong case to keep the streak going and to hold their first place standing. The Panthers held the Vito’s to 3-goal lead until the levees broke and the Vito’s scored 6 goals in the third and took the victory with a final score of 11-2.

The Panthers have a busy weekend ahead with three games on the schedule. Friday Jan. 10th the Panthers are on the road in Tri-County to take on the Rivercats. On the 11th, the Rivercats come to Hartland. Then on the 12th the Panthers are back on the road again to face the Grand Lake Moose.
