No matter what sport you play, no matter what level, having to play three games in three days is a challenge. That is a challenge the Panthers had to face this passed weekend. The weekend began in Moncton on Thursday night when the Panthers took on the Moncton Vito’s. The Vito’s have had a strong season thus far with a season record of 11 wins and 0 loses and leading the league in points. Thursday night the Vito’s proved why they are on top with a dominating performance. The Vito’s were able to walk away with a 14 – 1 victory. Jonathan Cheney scored the lone goal.

Putting the previous night behind them the Panthers were back on the road to face the Tri-Count River Cats. The River Cats and the Panthers had previously met only once this season in a back and forth game that took place back in October. A game that saw Tri County walking away with the win, Friday night’s game was no different. A good fast paced game that much closer then the previous nights game. The Panthers were victorious with a 6 – 4 victory. Great performances from several players including Panthers rookie goaltender Dakota Acott who won his first career game stopping 42 out of 46 shots. Other note able performances from Arelle St. Amand, Jared DeMerchant, Jonathan Cheney, Matt Warren and Tyler Harding who all had multi point games.

To finish out the weekend the Panthers were back at home playing host to the Fredericton Caps. The Caps know to be a dominant force in the NBJHL winning previous championships and making several appearances in the Don Jon Championship Tournament. Fatigue was not an issue for the Panthers during the opening period but as the game wore on it started to settle in and the Caps took advantage taking the 5 – 2 victory. Even with the lose a strong performance came from Brody Seveck. Seveck walked away with 2 points and played a strong defensive game as well.

The Panthers take on another tough challenge of playing three games in three days this coming weekend as well. The Panthers are on the road Friday, back home on Saturday night to play host to the Hampton Hurricanes, and back on the road Sunday to visit the Grand Lake Moose. Saturday night’s game vs. Hampton is at 7:00PM at the Hartland Arena.
