If you can believe it January has come and gone and the hockey season is almost finished. But as the regular season winds down here are a few things you should keep an eye on.

Currently the Panthers hold a 10-10-2 record and sit in 6th place in the NBJHL standings only 2 points behind the 5th place Hampton Hurricanes and hold a 1 point advantage over the Grand Lake Moose. Like in seasons past at the end of the regular season the league divides into 2 separate divisions. The top 4 teams play in the Jr. B division and will battle amongst themselves in a playoff format until a champion is crowned. The remaining teams will play in the Jr. C division. They will also battle it out in a playoff format until a champion is crowned. Currently the Hampton Hurricanes hold the top spot in what will be the Jr. C division at seasons end. For the Panthers catching the Hurricanes will not be easy as in the remaining 6 games the Panthers play the top 4 teams in the league being the Kent Koyotes, the Moncton Vitos, Fredericton Caps, and the Shediac Predators. The remaining two games the Panthers face the Hampton Hurricanes and the Sunny Corner Thunder who sit in 9th place.

A couple of the Panthers are close in the league scoring races as well. In the goals scored department, Ryan Dunlevy currently sits in 4th place with 22 goals in 21 games played. Doubling his mid-season total. He will need 2 goals to catch 3rd place and 14 to catch Nick Jordan of the Grand Lake Moose sitting in 1st. Jon Cheney finds himself sitting in 6th place in assists only needing 7 to catch Danis Gallant of the Kent Coyotes.
